Marcus: Anything made of carbon can burn.

Elf and I: Hmm guess so rhubarb rhubarb hmmm.
Marcus: Yep. They can burn.
Michael: What do you get when you've burned a diamond?
Marcus: Diamond ash.

Michael: Dad ... have we got... a blender?
Deny owning a blender. That's my advice. And if they catch you in the lie tell them you didn't lie, you just "forgot" because you are old. Kids always believe that one.
